Day 2
Step 1: Finish up any individual research and filling out your graphic organizer! Share with the teacher.
Step 2: Click here to find out your partner and where in the room you will be working. Take your computer with you and head to that space in the room.
Some questions to consider:
Step 2: Click here to find out your partner and where in the room you will be working. Take your computer with you and head to that space in the room.
- With your partner share what you have learned about your explorer (you are the same explorer!) Do you have the same information? Do you have different information?
- What were some interesting facts you remember? Anything that stuck out to you about that person?
- First, discuss what you have already learned from the research you did individually.
- What were some achievements and successes you found?
- On the spreadsheet that had the list of partners, each partner is also given a role. One of you will be the researcher and the other will be the recorder. The researcher will look through the websites, while the recorder creates a word document and takes notes of the important information. WORK TOGETHER! Look through the information given, and decide together what is important. The recorder will keep track of the information by creating a microsoft word document. Feel free to use the resources listed below, and also go back to use the resources from day one.
- Take the information gathered and together, create a Scriblink. This acts as an online whiteboard you can save. Put up pictures and maps, and also include some key phrases or words about yourself. Make sure to include some background information, reason for exploration, and achievements/importance. Why should you be our classroom's historical hero?
- When you are finished prepare what you are going to share with others when you show them your whiteboard. Each person much speak in the discussion. Get creative. Take on your role. Do you have an accent? Any striking characteristics?
- Share your presentation with the teacher on a google doc. You will not be able to move on until this is done. Remember to keep your voices to a level 2 - inside talking. Be prepared to start teaching others what you have learned! Review all the information you have gathered. What is the most important? You are going to be informing others of all your accomplishments as an explorer. Split up the information and what each person will be responsible for sharing.
Some questions to consider:
- Did you take any risks? What were they?
- Where there any dangers or difficulties you faced and/or overcame?
- Did you take more than one exploration? Why did you refuse to give up, or want to explore more?
- Did accomplish what you set out to do? Did you do more than what you planned?
- Did you bring anything valuable back to Europe?
- Did you name any place?
- Was any place named after you?
- Do you have a lasting legacy? For example, a holiday celebration in your honor?
- If you did fail, how did you handle your failures?
